Terms of Use
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of stephenleynard.com and the Mind Over Matter publication (the “Site”), operated by Stephen Leynard in British Columbia, Canada. By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
1. Educational and informational purpose
Do not use the Site to make emergency or crisis decisions. The Site and its email address are not crisis services and are not monitored for emergencies. Where the Site links to crisis or support resources, those resources are provided for convenience and may change independently of the Site.
2. Editorial content
Articles may discuss research findings, theories, personal interpretations, and opinions. Psychology and health research evolves, and reasonable researchers or professionals may disagree. No representation is made that every article will remain complete, current, or applicable to every person or circumstance. Readers should review cited sources and consult qualified professionals where appropriate.
3. No guarantee of outcomes
The Site makes no guarantee that information, strategies, books, resources, products, or services discussed will produce any particular outcome. Any reliance on Site content is at your own discretion and risk, subject to rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
4. Reader accounts and community features
If you create an account, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for activity under your account. You must provide information you are entitled to provide and must not impersonate another person. The Site may suspend or remove accounts, comments, or other submissions that are unlawful, abusive, threatening, discriminatory, defamatory, spam, infringing, deceptive, invasive of privacy, or otherwise materially disruptive to the Site or its readers.
Do not post confidential health information, personal information about another person, or information you do not want made public. Display names, comments, and similar community activity may be publicly visible.
Signed-in readers may permanently delete their own reader account through My Reader Account. Account deletion is irreversible and removes the active account and associated Site records as described in the Privacy Policy, subject to lawful or technically necessary retention described there.
5. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise indicated, original articles, text, site branding, graphics, and other original Site content are owned by Stephen Leynard and protected by applicable copyright and other intellectual-property laws. You may link to Site pages and make reasonable personal, non-commercial use of the content. You may not reproduce, republish, sell, scrape for republication, distribute substantial portions, remove attribution, or create misleading derivative reproductions without prior written permission, except as permitted by law.
Third-party names, book covers, trademarks, quotations, and other third-party materials remain the property of their respective owners and are used only as permitted or for identification, commentary, review, or other lawful purposes.
6. Affiliate links and commercial relationships
The Site may use affiliate links. If you make a qualifying purchase after following an affiliate link, Stephen may receive a commission without increasing your purchase price. Material commercial relationships are disclosed as described in the Affiliate Disclosure. Affiliate relationships do not guarantee or constitute endorsement of a product's suitability for you.
7. Third-party sites and services
The Site links to third-party websites and uses third-party infrastructure and services. Third parties operate under their own terms and privacy practices. The Site does not control and is not responsible for third-party availability, security, content, products, policies, or actions. A link does not imply sponsorship or endorsement unless expressly stated.
8. Acceptable use
You must not use the Site to violate law or the rights of others; attempt unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or data; introduce malware or harmful code; interfere with Site operation; harvest personal information; automate abusive requests; circumvent security controls; or use community features to harass, threaten, defraud, or unlawfully identify another person.
9. Availability and changes
The Site may be changed, corrected, suspended, or discontinued, in whole or in part, without guaranteeing advance notice. Content may be updated or removed. These Terms may also be updated. The effective date shown above identifies the current version.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Site and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties or conditions of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, conditions, or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Stephen Leynard will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from use of or inability to use the Site, third-party services, or reliance on Site content. Nothing in these Terms limits liability where such a limitation is prohibited by law.
12. Privacy
Personal information associated with the Site is handled as described in the Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy forms part of the Site's transparency practices but does not reduce any rights you have under applicable privacy law.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable in British Columbia, without limiting any mandatory rights or remedies available to you under applicable law.
14. Severability
If a provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
